2013 The Porsche-Cajun

It's no secret that Porsche is working on a new model to further expand its range in the SUV segment. In fact, the German sports car maker not only confirmed the vehicle but also announced that it is being developed under the working name "Cajun". Further details remain unknown including of course the Cajun's styling direction and whether or not it will be a three-door (most likely) or five-door model.

Nevertheless, Teamspeed member and rendering specialist Wild-Speed has come up with a styling proposal for the Cajun. The artist designed the crossover as a three-door model with a sloping roofline incorporating styling elements from the latest Cayenne, Panamera and the 918 Spyder (notice the head lamps). However, it's also one of the most expensive midsize cars, particularly when fully loaded with options.

The 2010 VW Passat offers a near-luxury level of refinement, and excellent road manners. It also offers a near-luxury price. Edmunds notes, "For many folks, the Passat fills the gap that exists between normal, humdrum family cars and the financially out-of-reach luxury brands."

Reviewers aren't sure what to make of the car because of that unusual status, floating between affordable and luxury classes. The 2010 Volkswagen Passat, most critics say, is an enjoyable car to drive. It offers a refined, smooth ride, and sharp handling for a family car. Its interior is a step up from those of most Affordable Midsize Cars, with high-quality materials and fine attention to detail.

Its high price, however, can be hard to justify. Volkswagen's midsize car isn't among the class leaders in fuel economy, either -- making it an expensive car to own.
Other Cars to Consider

The Passat is known for its tight handling, but high price. Those looking for a fun-to-drive midsize car might want to consider the Mazda6 or Ford Fusion as well. Both cars offer similar athleticism at a lower price. The all-new Suzuki Kizashi is a bit smaller, but may be the sportiest entry in the midsize category.

Volkswagen loyalists might also want to look closely at VW's other midsize car. The stylish CC uses many of the same parts as the Passat, but offers an even more upscale feel with similar driving dynamics. Many VW dealerships now stock a greater variety of 2010 CCs than Passats.

Volkswagen has scaled back Passat production significantly, as the company prepares to replace the aging model. For 2010, Volkswagen will build only a single trim level for the Passat, available as a sedan or wagon. VW offering free scheduled maintenance for the first three years or 36,000 miles on all Passats.

Land Rover have a solid reputation built upon durability, and with their development of easy handling and ride comfort it's not hard to see why this iconic brand has endured even as local agriculture has sadly waned. I felt slightly treacherous in my enjoyment of the journey in the Defender, but there's no reason why a classic design has to mean a sore posterior.

All too soon I found myself heading back towards the dealership, wondering whether the Series IIA would still provide the same fulfillment now that I knew what I had been missing. Whilst I would be more inclined to leave the more intricate servicing of the newer used Land Rover models to the professionals, I'm sure that given time I'll be rooting around under the bonnet for the smaller tasks that can be handled by a competent home mechanic.

I admit that I was fully won over, and signed on the dotted line with only the briefest moment of hesitation as I wondered whether the Series IIA would throw some kind of sulk. For anyone looking for a vehicle that combines off-road capabilities with on-road comfort, a used Land Rover could very well prove to be the ideal choice. If you get a chance to test it out on roads that offer slightly more challenge than the A1, you'll be able to get a feel for whether that particular model will be the one to take you up hill and down dale with the minimum of fuss.

Overview
The BMW 3 Series is the one car in the BMW lineup that most closely embodies the automaker's "Ultimate Driving Machine" tagline. The 3 Series lineup has a model variant that will suit just about any driver's taste. It doesn't matter if you choose a base 328i coupe or the amazing M3 sport sedan; you will likely be rewarded every time you drive a 3 Series.

The 3 Series lineup comes in coupe, sedan, wagon and convertible forms, and is offered with naturally aspirated, turbocharged and diesel versions of BMW's 3.0-liter

Arguably one of, if not the best all-around sports car on the market, the top-of-the-range M3 is pure driving bliss. You become one with the machine, sinking into the soft, supportive sport seats that hold you firmly in place when attacking a mountain road or a race track. With a simple push of the M button you can go from a perfectly comfortable cruiser to an all out performance monster.

What's New
The 335i gets the new inline-6 equipped with a single twin-scroll turbocharger, BMW's Valvetronic throttle-less intake technology, High Precision direct fuel injection, and all-aluminum construction. Also for 2011, the 3-Series coupes will be available with BMW's advanced xDrive all-wheel drive and traction system. BMW has further developed its iDrive nav and entertainment system with new graphics and controls.
Exterior
The new design of the taillights is unique to the 3 Series Coupe and Convertible. The rear light cluster features two-piece L-shapes and a new color scheme. A new, broader hood and wider kidney grille have also been added.
Interior
There are no dramatic changes to the interior of the 3 Series, which features a variety of wood and aluminum trim packages are available at no cost, as well as leatherette or Dakota leather for your upholstery options available in a variety of colors.
Performance & Handling
Through years of refinement, the new I-6, both in naturally aspirated and turbo forms, is more responsive, more fuel efficient and cleaner-running than ever before. The turbo puts out the same power and torque as last year's engine (300/300) but does it more efficiently. The non-turbo 3.0-liter is rated at 230 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque, the same as last year.
Safety
The 3 Series' two-stage adaptive brake lights increase in intensity during a full ABS stop. Driver and passenger front airbags are standard, along with frontal side impact and front and rear head curtain bags. Traction and Stability Control are standard.
